The story takes place across two separate arcs, one recounting events in the 1980s, and the other following characters in the year 2025.
The 1980s story arc follows the exploits of Alex Mason, fighting in a proxy war in Angola whilst suffering from a disorder as a result of his brainwashing in Vorkuta. Viktor Reznov will reportedly return in this section of the game, and it has been suggested that his friendship with Mason will continue to be explored.
This portion of the game chronicles the rise of Raul Menendez, the primary antagonist of the game in the 2025 chapter.
Known locations in this section are Angola, Afghanistan, Panama and parts of Central America.

The game had been previously available on a beta, but this version on Steam is being called a "Foundation Release" -- which means that it's improved over the beta but will still be added to and enhanced in the months to come.

Mass Effect 3 was at the forefront of our minds as we here in the Gamers Voice office debated the greatest games of the year. Putting the bookend on one of the most influential series of this generation, BioWare's third chapter was a massive achievement that earned our highest praise. With one of the most controversial endings of all time , the game gave the gaming industry a lot to discuss.

Dark Souls II director Tomohiro Shibuya upset some Dark Souls fans by saying that the sequel will be "more understandable," but more light has been shed on that conversation

“Accessibility to players who haven’t picked up Dark Souls is definitely a key topic,” Shibuya toldEdge in an upcoming cover story. “Right in the beginning when players first pick up the game is something that I will definitely focus on. To not immediately throw them into Dark Souls but provide a good introduction in terms of what the game’s about and how the game should be played."

As a true sequel, this game moves the battle away from the common Western Front focus of World War II and refocuses on some of history’s most brutal and devastating conflicts on the Eastern Front, challenging players to take command of the iconic Red Army and repel the Nazi invaders from the very gates of Moscow.

Saints Row: The Third's release in Japan got a little less amusing.

A THQ representative told Game Informer that, due to stricter guidelines, the publisher had to remove the veins and physics from the in-game Penetrator weapon for its release in Japan. The Penetrator is a melee weapon comprised of a three-foot long purple phallus attached to the handle of a baseball bat.

Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain any images of the changes made to the Japan version.

Saints Row: The Third releases on November 15 in North America and Europe and November 17 in Japan.

Last month, a young man named Michael John Mamaril died of cancer at the age of 22. To honor his memory, Michael's friend Carlo reached out to their favorite developer Gearbox, who came through for their grieving fan in a major way.

Carlo emailed Gearbox asking if the team would record a eulogy for his friend in the voice of Borderlands' robot sidekick Claptrap. Not only did the developer record a heartwarming message for Michael's friends and family, but they also told Carlo they will add his friend to Borderlands 2 as an NPC. Carlo shared his story with Destructoid this week, which posted a copy of the eulogy on their site. I can pretty much guarantee it's the most touching recording you're going to hear today.

We tip our hat to Gearbox for their incredibly kind gesture, which shows a level of character and commitment to their fan base that few studios achieve. Our thoughts go out to Michael's loved ones.

In an interesting patent filing, Nintendo comes up with a curious add-on to the traditional Wiimote -- one that may be intended for use with the company's upcoming Wii U.

Silconera broke the story on the new add-on, which looks to be another interesting accessory from a company that's made more than a few.

According to Siliconera, "The magic of mirrors makes the device work. When you touch the pad an infrared LED turns on and the amplified beams from the LED bounce off the mirror and are interpreted by the controller as position data. If you don’t touch the pad, the remote works just like a standard Wii remote."
