Just a little over a week ago, our own Robert Nelson brought you word about the Samsung Galaxy Precedent, a new Android phone being offered through Straight Talk Android. Now we’ve got a bit of an update for you as the company is now accepting pre-orders on the phone, as we were tipped off by a contact working for TracFone Wireless’ press company.

You’ll be happy to know that there’s no contract with the Samsung Galaxy Precedent as offered on Straight Talk, but you’ll still be looking at a decent quality Android phone. It offers a 3.2 inch touch screen display running at 320 x 480 resolution, backed up by an 800 MHz processor, 384 megs of RAM, GPS, wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS system, a microSD card slot for added storage and a two megapixel camera. It also offers up multitasking capability (plus it can even switch between open apps quickly and easily, or so the reports say), Swype texting, and is set to run Android 2.2, or Froyo, if you prefer the tasty name.

While there’s no contract, instead you’ll be getting onto a subscription plan that, much like your home phone or cable bill or the like, requires you to pay for each month, and you’ll be paying $45 a month for unlimited talk, text, data, and 411 information service. The phone itself, meanwhile, sells for $149.88, which as phones (and phone bills) go isn’t really that bad for what all you get out of this.

So what do you guys think about the Samsung Galaxy Precedent? Any of you looking to put down a pre-order on this one or are you still waiting for the iPhone 5 to emerge? Either way, head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think, but on your way down, we’ve got a video from the folks at Straight Talk that gives you a more visual look at the Samsung Galaxy Precedent, so have a look and tell us what you think about that one too.
