It looks like Google is once again ready to expand upon their +1 presence and the latest service that will be getting the +1 button will be AdSense display ads — both for AdSense for Content and also AdSense for Mobile Content.

The news comes by way of an email from the Google AdSense team who break this down as follows;

`In the next month, we’ll introduce the +1 button and personal recommendations to display ads.'

According to Google, these newly added +1 buttons will be an “additional signal to help determine an ad’s relevance.” In other words, they should, or at least could help the publisher of the ads to see which are going to end up generating the most revenue. Of course, this is all dependent on whether or not users will feel the need to actually +1 an advertisement. Me personally, I would not say that I am against it, however it seems like something that I would rarely if ever actually do.

Otherwise, just to follow up on some other +1 button bits, Google also recently launched the button for Google search as well as publisher sites.

Bottom line here, it looks like Google is trying to gain some addition traction for these ads. The email that we received also went on to mention how “users will be able to endorse specific ads” which will end up making the ads “more likely to appear to their social connections.” In other words, this should help bring more attention to something that many users try to ignore — advertisements.

And for those AdSense publishers that choose not to show the +1 button, there will be a method of opting out. Though, given this seems like it could only potentially help you, we are not all that certain why someone would want to opt out.

Anyway, in the end, regular users will soon begin seeing +1 buttons on AdSense for Content and AdSense for Mobile Content advertisements. And trying to leave this on a positive note, maybe by using the +1 button on advertisements, this will lead to better targeted ads. You know, for stuff you actually want to see.
