Activision and Infinity Ward have revealed that there won’t be a prestige edition for Modern Warfare 3, but that they’ll only be offering the regular edition and the hardened edition instead. We’re normally used to seeing three different editions of Modern Warfare 3, but unfortunately the most hardcore Modern Warfare fans are going to have to make due with the hardened edition this year.
Of course, it isn’t that surprising that Activision has decided to forgo a Modern Warfare 3 prestige edition, since this year’s hardened edition is actually giving players more bonuses than we’ve seen in hardened editions of the past. Activision probably wants all eyes on the subscription to Call of Duty Elite‘s premium service, which is included with the Modern Warfare 3 hardened edition.
When the subscription to Call of Duty Elite premium is coupled with the fact that this hardened edition will cost $100, there isn’t really a need for Modern Warfare 3 to get a prestige edition.
